Languages connect communities, past and present, especially in a wee country, and protecting Scotland’s indigenous languages will hopefully give us more opportunities and a sense of identity that has been historically denied, especially to Scots speakers.

Isn’t drawing a line between Scots and English (or “Scotched English”, with some Scots words) hard?
Yes, typically large chunks English are used in Scots. And Scots has a largely similar grammar too. Having said this, they are distinct and the DSL explains how they handle this
