  • You can’t hide damage of that significance. Both Israel and Iran lie about the extent of the damages, but damage can be verified. You can’t hide dead commanders or hide from satellite images. We tend to have a good idea of what happened shortly after.

In this case, Iran has admitted to a lot of the damages that Israel claimed and a few other of their claims can be verified with satellite imagery. However, Israel hasn’t admitted to any strategic damage by Iran nor has there been any verification for the damages that aimed for. Iran can say they aimed for something, that doesn’t mean they did. They can claim they hit something, doesn’t mean they did.

I understand being skeptical of Israel because they’re a dubious source, especially when they’re one of the parties involved. That being said, we’re at the point where we can tell that Iran’s missle barrage yesterday didn’t do much.

    makes their iron dome useless

Just an FYI, the Iron Dome is not designed to intercept missles. It’s designed to intercept short range rockets and artillery. This means that the Iron Dome probably wasn’t used at all yesterday. Instead, other systems like Arrow, David’s Sling, and THAAD were used since these systems were actually designed to counter missles.

  • Countries do this in general because those projectiles are violating these countries’ sovereignty. Iran doesn’t ask these countries for permission to have their missiles go through their airspace, they just do it. No country is going to allow another country to endanger it’s people by sending through its borders without their consent, so they just take them down.

In this case, Jordan is under the protection of the US and they have American bases and use American systems. So when something like this happens, Jordan works in coordination with the US to take the missles over its borders.

  • A paper tiger doesn’t necessarily mean that a country is weak, it just means that a country is weaker than it is perceived. It’s a relative term. Iran is much stronger than my home country of Iraq, whom they have thoroughly abused. However, Iraqis in general think that Iran is actually a weak country relative to, say for example, Turkey, who has similar base stats.

The Iranian regime portrays itself as this mighty and powerful power that contend with the West, and here in the West we make Iran seem like it’s as powerful as the Soviet Union was… But in reality their strength has been greatly exaggerated by propaganda both inside and outside the country, and their actual capabilities are far less than they are on paper, hence why it’s a paper tiger.

You could make the same argument for Russia. Before the Ukraine war both Putin’s regime and the West believed that Russia’s military was world’s second most powerful and that they’re strong enough to take on the US… At least in theory. But as it turns out, Russia is way weaker than anybody expected and they keep getting pushed back by Ukraine. Russia is still strong, but they’re also a paper tiger.

  • Israel’s objective isn’t regime change. They would welcome a regime change, but that has never been the objective. The actual objective has been to dismantle Iran’s ability to project power. This means stopping them from getting nukes, having a capable military, and having reliable proxies. They’ve been doing a good job doing all of this over the past few years, and this attack is another example.

On the other hand, Iran’s explicitly stated objective is to destroy Israel… And they haven’t done a thing to get anywhere near that.

You’re simply being dishonest by trying to pretend that Iran is somehow keeping up or exceeding Israel in their back and forth when they’re very clearly and objectively not.

  • What videos? Besides we’re going off of assessed damage. Israel kills Haniyeh in Tehran and Iran shoots a bunch of empty missles that barely hit anything. Israel kills 20+ of their top commanders in one night and Iran again shoots a bunch of empty missles that barely hit anything. Israel neuters Hezbollah, Iran does nothing. Israel bombs the Iranian embassy in Syria, and Iran does nothing. Mossad agents have been confirmed being literally everywhere in the Iranian state, and they do nothing.

Iran hasn’t done any percesion strikes or targeted assassinations or caused any damage to Israeli defenses or destroyed any critical Israeli infrastructure or any covert intelligence operations. They’ve done nothing because they can’t do anything. The Iranian regime literally made destroying Israel a core part of their identity, and over the past few years, Israel has been destroying them without any pushback. For a regime that brags about their prowess and capabilities, why haven’t they used them already? The answer is simple, Iran is a paper tiger.

  • I doubt the full 300 would’ve done much tbh. Only like 7 of the 100 or so missles actually hit anything this time around. So if we triple the results for 300 missles, that’s only 21 hitting targets. Even if we become generous and assume an extra 7 hit anything to even the number of successful hits to 30, that’s still only a 10% success rate. Sure, 30 targets is way more impactful than 7, but that’s not exactly enough to even shock Israel, especially when you consider how weak the payload is on these missles.

  • The Iranian theocracy over the past few years has been feeling real pressure because of how badly Israel has exposed them. Consider what Israel has done to them:

    • Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran

    • Hezbollah got neutered

    • The Iranian embassy in Syria got bombed

    • They completely lost their proxies in Syria

    • They lost the Al Assad regime

    • They had their proxy groups in Palestine, Hamas and the PIJ, get bombed into oblivion

    • Their oil infrastructure keeps getting bombed and damaged

    • They had military bases inside country get attacked

    • Their nuclear facilities keep getting attacked and damaged

    • They had a bunch of their military leaders assassinated

    • They keep losing their top nuclear scientists

    • Mossad has repeatedly shown that it’s so balls deep in Iran’s affairs that they’re borderline running the country

Keep in mind this is just Israel, they’re also facing pressure from the US, UAE, KSA, and EU. The Iranian regime has shown time and time again that they won’t do anything substantial no matter what. It’s a sign that Iran hasn’t done anything because they can’t, which means they’re a paper tiger.

This is just external pressure. Internally, they’re also feeling the squeeze because the people DESPISE them:

There are massive protests in Iran every other year since the late 2000s. Here are some recent examples:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahsa_Amini_protests

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021–2022_Iranian_protests

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–2020_Iranian_protests

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–2019_Iranian_general_strikes_and_protests

The mullahs and their regime have completely lost their legitimacy to the people of Iran and they’re only still in power because they still have the military on their side which they use to oppress the people. The regime’s only way to stay in power is to rule through fear and violence.

On top of this, Iran also has major separatist movements like Kurdistan, Balochistan, Iranian Azerbaijan, and the Arabs in Khuzestan. These groups and regions comprises half the country, and they all want out. The theocracy has to spend an insane amount of effort keeping them down.

So between power moves by foreign powers, the separatists, and the general population, the theocrats are getting squeezed from all sides. This means that the regime is very fragile and they could get ousted from power easily if they show too much weakness.
