Oh shit, thanks for the reminder. I could do with something to watch in the background this weekend. I can never decide if I would actually enjoy going along to the race in person, but it’s always entertaining to follow along from afar

Or because it’s a theocracy based on religion that literally says “God is telling us to kill everyone else”.
Making claims about what religion says means you’re either talking about the religion the country and missed an “a” before the word “religion”, or you’re talking about every religion. I think it’s probably the former, but either way Islam falls under it
Skua@kbin.earthto World News@lemmy.world•[live thread] Israeli Launches Strikes On Iran213·21 hours agoThey’ve had that government for a long time and were content to sign the JCPOA. You don’t have to like the Iranian government at all to recognise that it was not the party to break that deal
Also, Pakistan is a Muslim country which has had nukes for decades without using them on anyone. Being Muslim does not make you want to nuke the rest of the world
It was great! I did indeed get soaked, but it brightened up in the afternoon. I was particularly keen om seeing Breabach and Talisk, and they were both fantastic. The crowd went absolutely wild for Talisk in particular, which was a slightly surreal experience for me as someone that attends a fair few metal gigs and wasn’t expecting to see the same atmosphere for a trad group
A reel is a dance, but the Reeling is a folk music festival!

They are electric and also generally cheaper than comparable alternatives, yes. There are options that compete on price, like Renault, but it’s definitely at the cheapest end of the market
Away to Glasgow for the Reeling today. It’s due to be pishing down basically the whole time, but I could really do with a good day out

Transcript if anyone needs:
Asked about concerns her bill could drive prostitution to an unregulated and underground system, Ms Regan said: "There is no basis for any of those assertions. “If you even think for one second, you cannot possibly drive prostitution underground.” “If you had a lot of women in underground cellars with a locked door, how would the punters get to them?” The Herald clarified that the point being made was that if someone wants to buy sex, they would simply do so illegally. Asked if that made sense, Ms Regan said: “No. It does not really make sense whatsoever.”

Skua@kbin.earthto News@lemmy.world•California's Yurok Tribe gets back ancestral lands that were taken over 120 years ago7·8 days agoI think that’s an error on the AP’s part, since the area prior to this was about 87 sq mi (from the census). Also, anything less than 73 sq mi would mean that adding 73 more would “more than double” it; if it was 72 sq mi and you added 73, that’s a 101% increase, or more than double
Still, anything on the order of “less than 100 sq mi” is pretty damn tiny. If it was an independent country it’d be only a little bigger than San Marino
Skua@kbin.earthto World News@lemmy.world•Explosions caused 2 bridges in western Russia to collapse, officials say. 7 people were killed5·12 days agoI’m not sure I see the rationale there. Russia was already hitting Ukrainian infrastructure, so framing Ukraine for destroying some in return doesn’t create an escalation that they can “respond” to. Losing railway bridges close to the front lines - very useful for logistics and not easy to fix - seems like a very costly sacrifice for seemingly no gain if it’s a false flag
Ahh nice! I know basically nothing about those two other than the genre of them, but they both seem to have seen a remarkable burst of popularity. They must be doing something right. I hope you enjoy it!

Skua@kbin.earthto Games@lemmy.world•Fixing broken Oblivion Remastered difficulty without mods?7·13 days agoI haven’t played the remaster so I can’t guarantee this will work, depending on what has changed, but ironically levelling up more might be the solution you need here. If the level scaling is still as completely fucked as it was in the original, the enemies should get stronger pretty quick. If you only level non-combat stuff they should get to a point that you find appropriate

Just on the bus home from seeing a few friends for some drinks. Had a lovely evening. I’ve got little on this weekend save for meeting up with the old man on fathers’ day, but I’m hoping I can sit down and record a bit of music at some point
